Hi, I’m Gemma!

Vegetarian foodie, and keen traveller!

To me, food is one of the greatest joys humans have. It can bring us together, it can elicit genuine happiness, it can be used to celebrate, and to represent and share cultures, and be a genuine way to show love. Food has been a priority and love of mine since I was a small child, and now I have adult money and the ability to travel, it’s become an even greater component of my life.

I started this blog primarily to celebrate food and the different cuisines I have the privilege to be exposed to. I live in London, one of the most multicultural places in the world, and this is represented in the food available to us. I want to remember everything amazing I’ve ever eaten- and share those places to anyone who would like to join me. I’ve also recently caught the travel bug and want to explore the world properly. Food is always a priority when I go abroad, and as a vegetarian, I am grateful for the bloggers and vloggers who create content that allows me to eat well when I do so. However, in my opinion, there is a bit of a gap in the market. If you search “vegetarian food in X city”, nine times out of ten what comes up is vegan food. Big up to my vegans, but as I often travel with meat-eaters, and do eat dairy and eggs myself, only finding completely vegan eateries can restrict me from some of the best food available. So, here’s a space for my vegetarian foodies! (Though of course all diets are welcome here).

Outside of blogging, I work in finance in the not-for-profit sector, gym, read regularly, and attend a local choir. I’m also involved in community activism, and spend a decent chunk of my time protesting the government’s nonsense. I’m particularly interested in how food interacts with a number of sociopolitical issues, especially as my background before finance was biology and nutrition, and you may see that occasionally weaved into my writing here.

But, that’s enough about me. Let’s get eating and exploring!

Fun fact: the “bean” in my url is representative of my vegetarianism and a cute nickname my sister uses for me!
